Tips for removing cat to header bolts? 2012 GT
#11
I hate those stupid factory midpipe to manifold bolts. Ford used distorted thread locknuts on them, which as far as I've seen have a real propensity to seize, gall or crossthread on the studs when you try to remove them. I stripped one stud and broke two others over the course of the 5 or so times I took my midpipe off before I installed the headers. BS.
After the last one I broke, I just used regular nuts on the studs and double nutted them. Never had another one sieze and they worked just fine.

Yeah, I left the resonators. I also have a pair of GT500 mufflers that I won't end up using because I like the sound with the flowmasters. I think it drones less with the x-pipe than with just the axle back. Don't get me wrong, it is loud but a lot of that horrible drone has gone away in the 1800-2000 RPM range.
Never heard my set up with resonators on. Got a video?

Exhaust bolts? Heat, penetrating oil and tighten them a touch before you unwind them. Usually the third suggesting deals with the issue without any other intervention.
A little late to the party, EH?

Okay got the video to work, lol. The tone is different then mine. You don't have near as much popping and it sounds like your RPMs drop down fast for some reason lol. I like yours equally as much!!! Go up a hill in 5 or 6th gear at 1800rpms and it sounds like a symphony in the cab lol. Can't hear myself think when I do it lol. 2 thumbs up!!
