2011 5.0: 2.3 Whipple or Hellion Twin Turbo?

One thing is the TVS is a totally proven rock solid performer, whereas there have been instances of Whipples crashing the blower.
I would seriously inspect your budget. There are a good number of supporting mods you'd be well advised to consider. You're going to want at least the cats out and preferably headers in, as well as preferably the rest of the exhaust opened. You're likely going to have to budget for a clutch upgrade. The multi-piece driveshaft may not be the best bet and suspension work like upper and lower control arms is a virtual necessity. Better rubber, at least out back, is pretty much a requirement as well.

Got it but, what's the joy in a broke car or a 600 horse car that gets smoked at the lights by something with half the power, because it can't plant the power?
Honestly, I've driven overpowered and undertired and undersuspended cars all my life. This one is the first one I tried the other way round. It has been pretty entertaining.

If you're not going to forge the bottom end, I'd stick with a TVS or 2.3 Whipple. Both can produce more power than the shortblock can handle, provide excellent reliability, and are a tune of fun on the street. The 2.8 KB is a sweet blower, but way over kill for the shortblock. You'll be much more efficient with the smaller TVS or 2.3 Whipple.
It's a good thing you have already deleted the catalytic convertors too. You're just asking for them to melt or log up with a blower!

The Hellion is also overkill, but with a boost controller, I can control when I want to cruise around at 5psi, or put the douche in the corvette in his place by turning it to 8 with the push of a button. Can't do that with a SC. Also, the boost curve is more gentle with a turbo. I'd never push the motor past it's limits. Looking at pushing maybe 650 on a safe tune.
