VMP STG 2 vs. 650R ROUSH kits on a 14 GT AUTOMATIC??
Has anyone installed either of these on an automatic? I am thinking about adding something in the future. Not too radical though since it is daily driver. All the posts I have seen have these on a manual. I think I saw one on SVT performance for an automatic. Just curious I drove a ROUSH stage 3 auto at the dealer awhile ago and really was not impressed especially for the 62k price tag. It really was not that much quicker then the GT. Just a lot louder on the freeway that would not be for me.
Thanks

The VMP kit is much better than the plain Roush kit with many advantages. The Roush cars with the Roush tunes are not very impressive. And there have been lots of guys that have installed them on autos.

Do you think there is a risk to the motor by adding this kit? I don't put down rubber at every start just want the power there. I wonder how much better the VMP version is compared to the ROUSH I drove at low end. What are the advantages? I know the stage 2 comes with a better cooler. I would love to try and do the install with some one out here but have a feeling I will have the dealer do it. They said the install for the Phase 2 is about 1380. So first step will be a tune in the next couple of weeks.

There's always a risk but the VMP tune that comes with the kit is spot on. Read here.

That's way too much to install it.

The stock autos typically handle less than their stock manual tranny counterparts. I don't know what the limit is on the 5.0 w/six speed auto but for the 5 speed 5R55S on the 05-10 S197 it was around 500-550 tq flywheel for DD, for drag racing with slicks it was less.

Not in this case. There are stock auto transmissions making 1000 horsepower without issues. No MT82 is going to hold up to that.
