My 5.0 quieted down quite a bit after changing to 5W30 M1 oil.

Mine has always done it.. im not convinced it is coming from the engine.. go back and forth between thinking it is the transmission or engine.. Either way.. this car likes to be warmed up a bit, and can get especially cranky when the weather is cold. On hot days, it only takes a few minutes (like a block or two) for things to smooth out. My moving parts have the same problem, so I figure the car and I are a little alike

Regarding the Focus DC transmission.. what a piece of shi#!!! Had one for a rental and thought the transmission was gone.. then read how it is "normal"... I like how Ford likes to say something is a "normal characteristic"..... as if being broken is normal.. even if it is a characteristic in all the Focus transmissions. Sure, if they all have a design flaw.. it is technically a "characteristic" if that part.. but using the word normal is lawyer speak for sure.

Switch to Royal Purple HPS. Made my 12' 5.0 run smoother & more quiet at idle. Much less ticking & clicking from engine bay, especially on bottom passenger side.
