Default Good Shop in Tucson

I've got new Cams, Intake, long tubes, catted x, and cat back that I need installed and tuned.

Anyone know a good shop in Tucson? Someone referred me to Chuck Hawks, but after talking to him on the phone, he seemed much more interested in selling me a supercharger setup than in doing any real work for me. Finally quoted me 1750.00 in labor, not including tune, and all but promised that I would be disappointed with the components once he was done. Sorry Chuck, you lose.

Does anyone out there know of a decent reliable place that isn't going to gouge me on labor and try to sell me a bunch of additional crap I don't want or need?

Thanks,

Kong

At $75 per hour labor your only getting about 23 hours labor charge. Not really such a bad deal IMHO for everything you want installed.
Why not try to do it yourself?

Try Don's Hot Rod's. Their number is 520-884-8892. They may be able to help you out.

Telling me he absolutely had to pull the engine to do a compression check and leakdown test, and all the work is what started to make me hesitate, I see thousands of posts from people here that have done the work themselves and not one of them had to pull the engine to do the intake and cams. I've seen people do it when the engine has already been pulled, but not just for that purpose. Not only that, but telling me I've wasted my money, and I should sell my parts and get a blower instead, because it won't be any harder on the internals than the N/A setup I'm going with, is just flat bull****.

I found two different shops, one for exhaust, and the other for the cams. Exhaust = 280.00, Cams = 750.00. I'll do the intake myself. Oh, and neither shop tried to tell me what a moron I was for buying the parts I chose and sell me a supercharger.

If I had a garage with enough room, and a reliable extra set of hands I might try the cams and exhaust myself, but I'll let someone has all the tools they need do it for me.

I'll let you know if I recommend the places after I see their work.

Kong

Hey harwood103, I tried Don's but they don't do labor, just parts. They sent me to Chuck Hawks.
