Default running glow wire on dimmer/rheostat

I want to power my glow wire off of the factory rheostat/dimmer on the dash.

Has anyone ever blown theirs out? How much amperage can the dimmer take?

Don't know if you can do that. The ballast on glow wire setups is on or off, there is no in-between.

Find a schmatic and see what size fuse the factory puts in line to protect it. The factory fuse will be at a safe limit to not damage anything. Just make sure you switch doesnt get execivily warm.
