Removing factory amp 90 gt vert

Removing factory amp 90 gt vert
Is it mandatory to remove the factory amp when installing a new cd receiver (Sony)? If, so can you tell me why? I've heard some say that the factory amps have less power than the aftermarket receivers. Does leaving the factory amp hooked up some how drain power from the new receiver or is there other reasons for the need to remove it?

You dont need to physically remove it just unplug it. The black plug you hoodked up for the speakers. Count how many wires are comeing out of it. If there is only 5 then there is a bypass plug in there by the radio that you need to use instead

RE: Removing factory amp 90 gt vert
Okay so you are talking about the black plug that goes into the back of the radio? If this plug has only 5 wires I can use a bypass harness? Can I get this harness at most car audio stores? I was told that the bypass harness is hooked up to the wire plugs that came off of the factory amp. Is that the case or do I just simply unplug the factory amp and leave it alone. It makes sense that the wires to the factory amp have to be reconnected some how. Am I making this more difficult than it has to be or are these normal questions concerning the ford factory amp bypass? Thanks for the help in advance!
