Ok, now I'm desperate.
Just would like someone to direct me to get 2 10's or 12's in the trunk of my 1993 Vert. I already have one 12 in a slanted truck box. I would like more bass and no one sells pre-fab boxes for my car. I went one of thee local stereo shops and they said they can build me one but the box wouldn't come out the car, (bolted in). I saw one design in which the owner installed 2 10's in his wheel well. I can put those there but I also like to put stufff in the trunk like my compact toolbox, gym bag etc. Won't that block the woofers? Does anyone have any suggestions. I might try another stereo shop today so we can come up with an idea.

RE: Ok, now I'm desperate.
Your problem might be your 12" is in a truck box, and not made todeliver optimal splin that small of an enclosure.
What type of sub do you have, and what is the air space in the box? |
RE: Ok, now I'm desperate.
The subbox I have now is just something that was in the car when I got it. (Actually the box was a 10 in subbox with a 12 in old Polk Audio speaker inverted so it was facing the box. The cone was pointing up. I went ahead a purchased a $30.00 12 in slanted truck box and the sound is so much better with an old Orion 200 watt 12 in sub). It's not enough for me and I woulld like to get two 10's or 2 12's. I know the truck box is not optimal but it was a lot better then whaat I had.
Hisss04Cobra- What do you mean by flush mount? Do you mean with the subs facing toward the trunk and the subs in the spare tire well. I wonder how much usuable space I would have with this set up. |

RE: Ok, now I'm desperate.
buy an l7 and you can get a way smaller box for that with awsome sound quality but it can also be removed in 2 mins at most

Find out about a 3rd or 4th order band-pass box. May be your best option and you don't have to worry about an active crossover for it. |
RE: Ok, now I'm desperate.
If I can stuff two 10's behind the seat of a 70's standard cab truck (at 6'4" tall) then a quality shop can put 2 in your 'vert trunk. Find another shop...
Also,. check online for small box subs. I know JL and Image Dyanmics both make very impressive low volume enclosure subs. (My 10W4s were 0.66/ea) and I'm sure that the more bargin brand companys probably do as well. |
RE: Ok, now I'm desperate.
Like I said earlier, if you builda box to ported design specs, you could be suprised by its output.

he means flush it in like this: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...842_8_full.jpg
i know it is a coupe and it is a SN95...but the same thing can be done in your car. my box is a plain old MDF and carpet box with carpeted panels of MDF nailed to the front of the box so it APPEARS to be flushed in...however the panels are removable and i can just unbolt the L-brackets that hold my box in and take it out it need be...also i still have full access to my spare tire..i'm not sure you will still be able to access your spare tire though being a vert your trunk is a lot smaller...but if you want print out that picture and take it to your installer |
