1 12" or 2 10's???

I've almost got all the components needed to get my car stereo installed. The only thing I'm debating on now is the subwoofers and this has been a real pain in the A$$ to figure out. I'm going to go with JL Audio for the subs but I'm debating on whether to get 1 12W0 or 2 10W0's. They're both rated at 125RMS. I just can't figure out which one to go with.

Here's my 2nd problem. I can get a custom box built for the trunk of my car to hold 2 10's or 1 12 and I can do it one of two ways.

1.) I can get a wooden box made that fits in the back of the trunk and takes up a good portion of the trunk space.
2.) I can get a fiberglass box made that will fit in the side of the trunk giving me roughly 60-75% of the trunk free. The only downfall is that I could only put 1 10 or 1 12 in the side of the trunk where as I could put 2 10's in the back.

I'm not worried so much about the cost of having it done. I'm more interested in the sound quality and maximizing my trunk space.

What do you guys think?

I think you should skip the JL idea.

But, if you're heart is set on over-spending then why not go with one Jl Audio w3 12".

It would make sense that if you could get what you needed out of one subwoofer, that there would be no need to buy two.

I'm not heart set on JL Audio. I'm heart set on hard hitting clear bass. :) If I can get good hard hitting sound out of 1 12, then I'd go with that and buy the fiberglass box and have my trunk free.

2 MTX Thunder 5500 10's and custom box i have two in my ranger on800 wats and 1 in my stang on 1500 wats they beat. if you get JL go no lower than w3's you can go kicker L7 and get one twelve and be more than you will ever want. but i personaly would buy 2 10's before i bought 1 of anything else. i love the sound of 10's but make sure you get the custom box and not some BS that they order hundreds of. good luck with it

if those are ur options i would do 1 12..it will be more deep and the sound will travel out the car better soo u could hear that BOOOM that u heard at lights. the 10's aren't deep enough to hear outside the car like a 12 unlesss u have a ****ty 12 and nice ass 10's. 12's will give u deeper notes over 10's

I'm more interested in the sound inside the car. Not so much what people hear outside.
