Factory Subs don't work.....why?
 

I have any Alpine IVA-D900 system in my 06 GT, came w/ the shaker 500. I've had the unit for a couple of years. First it was in the Expedition then I had it moved in to the Mustang. The guys that hooked it up at Best Buy told me that the unit wont work w/ the factory subs in the door, and they really didn't tell me why. This is the first mod I've done to the sound system and now it sounds like S..T! Any suggestions would be appriciated, thanks.

why, you want to know why? stop reading anything else and read my signature.....

I dedicated it to them after 3 other people had the same complaint about different worst lie stores, you are the 4th. You have two options... 1rst no matter what you do, print up page 2 of the cardomain page as it outlines what you need to do. If I were you I would go back and DEMAND my money back for the install(they probably raped you for a $50 hrns as well right?) and let me walk you through it. If you want since you did pay for it, they should install it so you can just throw that printed page at them and tell them to fix it.

What ever you do please tell me what store number you are at, it is probably at the top of your reciept as I am going to start keeping track of which stores have my info and still don't want to use it in order to try and rape additional customers. They have an internal memo system for tech tips, maybe ask them to put a link to it or something as it will save me alot of trouble........

Actually while you are at it give me the store number and the name of the installer that told you it cannot be done and I will start an area of that page dedicated to the stores and people it has helped....

Thanks for the imput and the write up. When I bought the car I lived in New England, I'm in the Philadelphia area now. I'm not sure if I even have the receipt any more. I'm going to try and attempt to bypass the symstem myself following your instructions, but if I get fouled up, I'll just take it to the local Best Buy. I'll definately keep you up to speed on the install. Thanks again for the help.

all you need to do is to connect the blue/white on the deck to the amp turn on, which is also blue and white on the decks hrns. this will turn the amps on and will also probably result in an turn on thump when you turn the deck on. This is because the factory amp uses an unusual 6v turn on rather then the 12v your deck and everyone else uses. It does not hurt anythingbut the forum sticky shows how to stop it.
