6x9's possible??
I was wondering if anyone had put 6x9's in an 04 in the back I know the wholes only allow for 6x61/2 and was wondering how hard it was to trim out the holes to make trhem fit and if there is anything to worry about.

it is possible, but would fall under the catagory of more trouble then its worth. You are not going to get any huge gains in sound going from a 5 x 7 of 6.5 to a 6 x 9 to justify the cutting you would need to do to make it work.

6x9s are not what they are all cracked up to be. Everyone thinks 6x9s are the greatest thing since sliced beard. If you ever pick up a car audio mag. you will never see anyone use 6x9s in a show car they use 6 1/2s, 5 1/4(maybe) for the better sound quailty.
6x9 not worth the time to cut out to upgrade the size from a 5x7(6x8). You may get a tiny amount of mid bass more from a 6x9 then a 5x7. Really not worth it. |
I don't like sliced beard too much myself.

i got mine modded
i bought 6x9's thinkin mustangs had them in the back already the installer says i have 5x7's and he'd have to do some cuttin so i said go for it ...hehehehe i love em |
i used to have 6x9's and they were great at mid bass and helped out a lot with staging in the car and it just seems like i like the mid bass and extra power of a bigger speaker
stang23 how much effort was it to put in the bigger holes |
I would love to hear how 6 x 9s helped your staging.....

use 6 1/2 componate and you will fall in love with them. 6 x 9s are old school tech.
