Shaker 500 - Wire Colors?
Hello all
Swapping out my Shaker 500 for a Pioneer Z1 next week and have a Metra 70-5521 harness but I need the pin outs for the wire colors that come out of the shaker connector/metra harness so I know which ones to crimp/solder to the Pioneer harness.
Can anyone please help?
Thank you
Stuart

You're in luck. I happen to still have the PDF file from when I did my install.

Just noticed that file is under copyright so I took it off my web site, but you can still get it right from crutchfield:

Looking at the digram it seems like there's only one output for front amps (red RCA), second RCA (white) is the input to rear amp(s). Since almost(?) all aftermarket stereo's provide separete left & right pre-amp outs - does this mean you'd need a 2-to-1 RCA cable (basically a Y-adapter) in order for this adapter harness to work properly?

Correct, except that the two amps are wired together somewhere and there'd only one set of "inputs" that's presented by the HU harnes, for the front anyway. Second set of "inputs" is for the rear amps/subs used by Shaker 1000. In their infinite wisdom Ford decided to do it that way...

There are only two amps in the car, left & right 8" sub amps. Both in the driver's kick-panel. RCAs work in pairs, red is right, white is left. tip is +, shield is -.

RE: Shaker 500 - Wire Colors?
Just so I get this straight because I just installed a Pioneer DEH-P680MP and I want to use the rear RCAoutputs on the back of the stereo for the subs in the door.So you're saying the Red and White are actually for 1 amp on the Shaker 500 or is there another amp I'm missing somewhere because I can only find 1 which is in the driver side kick panel the other side has a fuse box. And do you have the met part number for the adapter? And one last question... Does the Blue and White wire still need a voltage regulator down to 5v or can it be hooked up to straight 12v?
Considering there's only 4 wires total coming out of that plug... 1 bare wrapped ground 2 speaker and 1 blue and white I'm assuming there's only 1 amp. There is another plug I wasn't paying much attention to because it was only 2 wires I haven't hit them with a test light yet as I want to hook up the amp I'm installing and see what it sounds like without the door subs. I'm also wondering if me hooking the rear RCA jacks will cut off the rear speakers that are wired into the harness already or if they will all power up. Even with just the upper door speakers and the rear deck speakers all factory I can really tell how badly the Shaker 500 really sounds....
Edit: Okay so I found the answer in another thread about the amps. Found here https://mustangforums.com/m_1330303/tm.htmand Item # 120705521 from Crutchfield took me a bit to find it since I've never ordered from them but all is good. Now I just have to get it here so I can install it and pull my dash apart again.
