Help on install.
 

OK, I'm getting closer on my 65 Fastback build. Its time to start the wiring on the stereo and DVD. I will give a list of my componets and their ohm rating. I need help on what speakers to hook to what amp and how to set everything up. Here we go,
Head Unit: JVC EXAD double din touch screen with 5.1 surround sound.
Amps: 2-JL Audio 4500 4 channel at 2 ohm, bridgable to 2 channel at 4 ohms 500 watt.
Front center channel speaker: 1-4"X10" 4 ohm 400 watt that will be mounted in the original location.
Front kick panel speakers: 2-6.5" 4 ohm Polk Audio DB series 180 watt in the kick panels.
Rear where the seat was: 2-6" X 9" Polk Audio DB 4 ohm rated at 300 watts.
Rear seat area: 2-10" JL Audio Subs 10W1v 2-8 in custom enclosures. Here are some photos of the layout.

Its the same, the photos are older. The last comment was about the needing to know the specs, and thats where things were left. Here is a current photo and its time for the wiring.

I plan on a 4awg going from the battery in the front to the trunk and I have a couple of ground studs in place where the amps are going. Also, I have a 6 power RCA cable for the connection from the head unit to the subs. What I need to know is which speakers to put on which sub to balance the load. Total speakers 7, total channels (2 4 channel amps) 8. The center is throwing me a curve. I can seek a professional installer, but can save a little money if I do it myself.

Anyone?

ok. got a couple of question of my own.

1. why did you choose a 4 ch to run your subs with?
2. does your head unit have a center ch. out put? if its 5.1 it should.

now my suggestions

1. trade one of your 4 channels for a mono amp
2. get a two channel to run your center channel. with this one if you don't have a good place to put it in the trunk with the others you could get a small, compact sized amp to put under the console or under the dash.

It has the center channel out and thats were I am confused. I can buy a very small mono amp. I am guessing this will be for the center channel. The ECM will be under the console and I am afraid to put an amp near it.

you could still put it under the dash or on the firewall. even in the trunk. in order to use the center channel u will have to use the rca out put to an amp.

it is a small enough amp that I would not be afraid to put it near the ECM. It also looks like you could mount a small one under the two in the trunk with out much trouble.

I am a little confused about your amp choice as well. Were you planning on bridging one amp to the subs or were you going to keep both amps in a 4 channel mode?

When I bought this stuff (which was a piece at a time) I was told to bridge two channels for the center channel and use channels 3 and 4 unbridged for the subs. My thoughts is, would it not be a waist of amp to set it up like this or is the wattage output controlable so that most of the power can go to the subs and the power limited to the center channel. The other amp will power the 2 front and 2 rear speakers. Whats your ideas?

that would give your center channel 2x as much power as your subs and that makes no sence. I would probably dedicate one amp to the subs as they need the power. You can do some series-parallel wiring for the rest of the speakers(left and right) and I would look at a small mono amp for your center channel if your deck doesn't have a powered output for it. There are a number of companies that make small amps for center channels that should be under $100 and can easily be hidden either in the dash, under the seat, under your other amps, ect......
