How big is your box? Thats the only real question. That and your amp?

1999mustang2000 Aug 4, 2009 12:18 AM

I dont have a box thats y i posted on here i planned on custom buildin one and the amps a mono class d 2000watt amp

JayMax03 Aug 5, 2009 12:32 PM

good luck you might have to build the box in the trunk and the amp your talking about is it 2000 watts rms or max watts (if max watts ignore that number and look for rms or nominal number) you might need another alternator

1999mustang2000 Aug 5, 2009 04:35 PM

i think its 1200rms

with the strut tower brace you are limited. You can probably fit one but 2 would require a shoe horn, a hammer and alot of duct tape. The biggest problem with putting big boxes in the trunk is the opening is small and has an odd shape. I have had problems fitting a single 12 box through before.

I have 1200 wrms also yeah your going to need an HOA so you won't put a strain on your battery and do the BIG3. I did the BIG3 on mine and my lights still dim like crazy so I have to order a high output alternator.

2 15s need a awful lot of air space, this is what it took for 2 12's in my 98 I had. This was 2kw RMS

The trunks are pretty close on these years:

theres a few pages but you see what i had to cut out to make it fit, and even then, it was just barely.

damn thats alot of work...the finished pics would load though...

the guy i had install my 12s in my 99 v6 mustang said i shoulda got 2 15s and baffle boarded them? whats he mean? and is this a good idea...

i was thinking get a rear seat delete and bow in the trunk somehow

JDWalton Aug 7, 2009 06:18 PM

basically hes saying to take the 15s and build a wall right behind the rear seat and mount the 15s there. basically making the trunk into the box. its not bad, but I like a good ported box much better myself. If your gonna run those 15s, I would say get the largest sealed box you can get in your trunk though. To do anything else right I think would just take way more space then you want to put into it.
