Default Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD Install Questions

So I picked up this unit and plan on doing the install myself with the help of a buddy. I have been searching around the forum trying to figure out exactly what I need and things to watch out for. I want to be able to use all the features of the unit. It is going into an 06 GT with the Shaker 500 system.

As far as I can tell I will need the following:

5V regulator
Wiring Harness Metra Part # 70-5521
Dash Kit

Is this basically it aside from tools, etc.?

I was thinking I would route a USB cable into my center console so I can use a flash drive for music and do the same for an Ipod. How long of a cable would I need?

Is there anything to watch out for (easy to forget/mess up)?

You would have to get the cables from Pioneer.

Pioneer sells the ipod cable sold seperatly. I dont think you need th 5v regulator but it wont hurt..

let me know if you need help on taking the stock radio out.

I just installed the 4200. See my thread:

You need a wiring harness, dash kit, 5v regulator, and a 12v relay if you want to do the parking brake bypass. You do not need an antenna adapter.

And you don't need the Pioneer iPod cable. Your regular white cable that came with your iPod will plug into the USB port and work just fine. However, if you want to watch videos from your iPod, you need the iu200v iPod cable from Pioneer.

That looks sick, can't wait to get mine in. How long did the install take you?

I got the same deal from Amazon, pretty smoking.

I took my time making the harness, probably took me 2 hours or so. Took me less than an 45 minutes to put it in the car since I know my way around the dash.
