Default replacing mach 460 and speaker/amp questions???

So ive decided to replace my mach 460 in my mustang.. anyway ive already replaced the head unit with a kenwood. My question are pertaining to the infinity 682.9 cf 5x7/6x8 speakers. First, crutchfield says they dont fit but all 6x8 fit dont they? Also they say 2 ohm but are really 4 ohm thru the speaker wire with their true ohm technology. what does this mean??? i ask this cause i want to install a 4 ch amp and dont know which to pick because i dont know if it is 2 ohm or 4 ohm??? please help!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Hank

Your amp will see a 4-ohm load from the speaker wire, so you should be okay with most any setup you choose...including the factory system if you left it alone.

The impedence behind the built-in crossover on the speaker side is rated at 2 ohms...that would equate to the speakers seeing twice the power that the amp would actually deliver which means they would be louder than a typical 4-ohm speaker.

As far as installation, your Mustang has 6 x 8 openings, but typically accept 5 x 7s. You might need to do some fabrication with the speaker chassis (i.e., drilling) to work with the stock openings...
