Just bough a JL Audio Stealthbox, need amp suggestions
Just picked up a JL Audio Stealthbox with a 13inch subwoofer. I have the Shaker 500 stereo system in the car. Need an amp to power this sub to decent volume levels but nothing outrageous. I generally dont listen to the stereo at high sound levels but the stock sound seems to be lacking. Any suggestions on an amp and/or how to improve the overall sound of the Shaker 500 would be greatly appreciated.

Ron, there is not a real clean or easy way to hook in your sub, but here is a link that will give you a few options. You'll need an amp to drive your sub and an input for the amp. The Shaker 500 does not have a preamp output to run an amp. You'll need to replace it with a Head Unit that does, or use the speaker outputs (get an amp that takes speaker level inputs), or get an adapter for the low level output from the radio to the sub amps mounted in the kick panels and use the preamp input on an amp.

As stated above, it's pretty complicated. I just changed out my head unit and used the line out from the head unit to power the amp. Unfortunately, I lost the door subs, but with two 10"s in the back, it didn't matter.

LOC with a 5-600 monoblock will do just fine. I think their recommended amp for the box was discontinued, but you might find one clearance priced.
You'll want a reasonably good LOC because the head unit dials down bass as the volume rises.

Thank for all the advice. Any suggestions on a specific LOC to get?
After doing a good bit of reading regarding the overall sound of the Shaker 500, I am leaning towards also updating the doors and rear speakers with some Polk Audio MM571's or similar. Multiple owners on a Shelby forum were adding them to their Shaker 500 systems and all reported significantly improved sound quality over the factory speakers. Would like to hear if anyone has similar experiences. To me, the Shaker system sound seems like it is missing some range or is almost muffled sounding.

What is complicated, the amp install or the loc? The loc is 4 wires, maybe 5 if you have noise and hook up the ground but its not rocket surgury by any means.
Again you can use an loc or some amps have them built in and will have an input section labeled "high input" that you can just connect to the same speaker wires the loc goes too.
As for sub amps a solid class D amp is normally the way people go with subs.
