Default a couple of quick questions for shaker 1000 replacement

1 ) will the standard aftermarket harness adapter work? Like one from bestbuy for example.

2) what exactly will I need to reduce the power from the atermarket stereo's auxiliary from 12 volts down to 5? I asked somebody at radioshack and he handed me a computer part with 3 prongs. Is there a more simple device I can use?

Thanks in advanced

1.) which hrns and for what part? We need more info to help you like what you are replacing now, what you plan to replace/upgrade in the future?

2.) you can use a voltage stabalizing transistor or just a simple resistor. It is discussed and shown in the sticky at the top of the audio section.

Possibly this one? I don't know if I will need a special one for the shaker.
For now I am putting in an xplod head unit later it will be a pioneer dvd player.

I will look at the sticky to see if I can find the transistor, thank you

Just get a Scosche wiring adapter from walmart. Basically all you do is connect the wires to the wiring harness on your headunit, then plug it into the factory harness. Takes all of 15 minutes and still use the factory amps, speakers, etc

Thanks for all the info, I got the parts and installed it today. I ended up using a Metra wiring harness and It was simple enough. I didnt like that the harness doesnt separate the front and rear subs. A difference I found in the the write up stickied above is that it states you need the diode hooked to both your amp wires or you would get a popping noise. I found that when I hooked it to both the rear subs wouldnt turn on so I wired the fronts through the diode and the rear straight to the 12v and it worked perfectly with no issues. I believe when I get my dvd head unit ready for install I will splice in a separate channel for the front subs. I didnt do it this time bc the headunit I am currently using is only temporary
