2014 Shaker internal HD
Has anyone every tried to upgrade the internal storage on the Shaker system?
Not that is all that hard to use a thumb drive but vioce works better with the music stored on the system.
Thanks

Depends if it's integrated or an actual removable HDD when you open it up.
Voice quality should not matter no matter where it's stored. You can make LossLess
MP3 files, or use a 256K or better bit-rate, with 48000Hz sample rate when ripping
music to a USB storage device. The stored on HDD in the Shaker is with the best
bit rate, and sample rate to produce LossLess audio. All that can be achived
using USB drives too, when ripped correctly.

They're easy to take apart and look at...
If I rip a CD, I rip them to MP3s at 320Kbps, with 48000Khz sample rate.
Now that I have an Eonon android unit, I can use the FLAC codec, which is lossless.
For saturated music such as hard rock, metal, arena, pop, electronic and house music,
320kbps will give the best results. No MP3 is lossless, but the higher the bitrate, the
better the sound, but larger the file.
You won't be able to tell the difference from a CD player, satellite, or HD radio -vs- an .MP3 at
320Kbit/48000kHz rates in a vehicle. At home with a theater system, you will... I have two
64Gig USB drives for my Eonon, and all my audio is 320Kbit/48000Khz.
However, in my VW Jetta, all my movie and tv series ripped audio is 192Kbit/44000Khz. I drive 450+
miles a day, 4-days a week and I listen to a LOT. I have every Star Trek series, and movie as .MP3 files,
plus a LOT more, for 120gig of stuff... This is on a 120GB SSD plugged into the MDI port. You may
want to see if your Radio USB ports can handle an external HDD, Laptop drive or SSD. Then you can
RIP everything you got to it.
I had a tablet in my former Charger, mounted to the driver side sun visor, and put everything I had on
that. Power and Audio ran down the "A" pillar, the audio to the radio AUX jack. I used a seperate
USB power supply for the tablet.
I been doing stuff like this for 20+ years...
