Can I get your thoughts?
Hey guys,
Im not a new member but dont have a Mustang. I am thinking about selling my 10mpg truck for this
http://columbusga.craigslist.org/cto/2297743711.html
The title is clean and clear. He says the car runs great mechanically. I am going to look at on Sunday. What should I look out for? He said the car has been lowered and has an aftermarket exhaust.
One downside that he told me is that he still owes on the car. How does that stuff work? Could it be legit?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Matt

If you have a trusted mechanic I would have him take a look at it. Otherwise look for obvious things like oil leaks, listen for any knock in the motor, make sure the rear diff and trans is not leaking, check the body any dings or dents, ask if it has been in any accidents, etc... Also ask if he has kept the maitenance and repair records/receipts for the car.
As for price I can't really say if it is a good price or not but there is always room for negotiation.
If he still owes on the car he has to pay it off. It cannot be titled to two people at one time.
Good luck and welcome to MF!

Thanks, the car is about 45 miles from my hometown so I cant take my mechanic with me, but I work at a shop and asked him today what I should look for.
As far as price, kbb has it for $5975 in "good" condition. Im gonna try and talk him down some.
I have to sell my truck first though.
Thanks

Yeah, just remember KBB is ususally a little on the high end of price. I dont think at that price you would be getting ripped off just that you could probably do a little better and that is if the car is all that he says it is.
Good luck! Hope you get your Stang.

Well I wasnt able to go look at the Mustang today. I may have a buyer for my truck, so maybe this week. I have talked to quite a few times and the car seems nice. I have found a couple other mustangs for the same price. one is a 2000 gt black with grey interior. It has 106k miles. It has bbk headers, midpipe, and flowmaster weld-ins. Are there many differences from 2000 models to the 2001 models esp the bullitt besides the bullitt's suspension brakes and 5hp?
Thanks
Matt
Thanks
Matt

I can't see the link you had posted so I don't know what it is that you are looking at.
I owned both a 2000GT and currently a 2001 Bullitt. I can say without a doubt, that the Bullitt is a FAR better car to own. The bigger brakes alone are worth having the Bullitt. The seats are much better and the suspension is far better. The intake on the Bullitt is much better also.
If you can get the Bullitt # for the car (assuming it is a Bullitt), you can try to find out more about the history of that car on the following Bullitt Forum site: www.imboc.com
There is a registry of the '01 Bullitts, plus you could ask if anyone is familiar with this specific car.
GOOD LUCK in your search for a Mustang!!!
