How to evaluate price of used 2008 Mustang Bullitt
#11
Curious why the seller upped the price by $500.
Did he figure out what he has, or is he just hoping to keep it for himself?
Being black I guess would increase the collectibility of it a little bit, to a discerning buyer anyway. To me personally, black decreases value regardless of collectibility status. I've owned two black cars in the past. Never again lol. Don't get me wrong, I love black - it was the only thing that was cool about my 1988 Escort I had when I was a kid, and my '96 Mustang GT was just gorgeous. But taking care of a black car.... Have fun with that.

Being more rare does not automatically make it more valuable, when reproducing an iconic car as a special model, and the original was a specific color, seems to me any other color should be worth less. IMHO.

Speaking as a former owner of a DHG '08 Bullitt...
DHG is the only TRUE color for a Bullitt. Yeah, the 08/09 came in black but those aren't real Bullitts. Same goes for the 01's in blue and black. If DHG was good enough for McQueen, well, 'nuff said.
Bullitts were built in limited quantities, making them more rare but not necessarily more valuable. They were, after all, basically de-contented GT's, albeit w/a different suspension package, wheels, a 3.73 rear end, a slight power upgrade and some different interior trim.
Having said all that, if you found a relatively low mileage, good shape '08 for around $16g's, my suggestion to you is that is a pretty good deal. Look for ownership maintenance records & obvious signs of abuse.
Treat a Bullitt well and it will reward you...
