Checked the fluid and it was good and I did the syncro test and that was good. It was very smooth yesterday also. Right now I am going to chalk it up as user error. Sometimes I have to really push on the clutch to get the starter engaged so maybe I didn't engage the clutch fully.

If you still have problems you can try rebleeding the system too. Though i think it is unlikely that air would get into it, but hey, its relatively free to check.

Funny thing about bleeding... found out my system is bleederless. I had a JHR stainless clutch line installed and the procedure is to pump the pedal 100 times after install... and for a day or so after that I would have to pump it some more.. feels fine now. Must be some sort of check-valve system.

Huh, that's weird. Though i ended up pumping the truck that many times anyway and it had a bleeder.

The T5 transmission that comes with the 4.0 V6 is pretty much a piece o' poop when it comes to shift quality. The issue with them not wanting to go into first at a light is pretty common unfortunately. A quick release of the clutch in neutral, and then clutching it again will generally let it pop right in.

Long term, either learn to live with it, or swap in a TR3650 (out of the GT) or a TR6060 (out of the GT500). Swapping isn't cheap (adapter plate and other parts required) but it makes a world of difference.

Just for laughs, here's the TR6060 I put in my ride next to the T5 coming out:

Holy crap! That is a huge difference. Thanks for the info Torch Vert. I think for the time being I will just live with it, LOL. But it is good to know that There is nothing wrong with it, other than the way it's manufactured anyway.
