It's still sitting as is currently. My grandmother isn't that well off financially and it isn't a project that the rest of the family sees as much value in. Once I get out of school I hope to be able to make something happen with it, as I guarantee it will never be sold (my grandparents wouldn't allow it). Hopefully sooner rather than later so that James (my younger cousin and my uncle's son) can get it in working order, but I'm just not sure what to expect cost wise to get it where it needs to be.

I think we determined that it was the valve seals, you'd be looking at 250-300 to service the heads at a engine shop, plus replacement gaskets and fluids for coolant, oil, intake gaskets, carb gasket, head gaskets, exhaust gaskets and head bolts. Might replace the intake bolts for good measure as well.

Yeah I think I remember that being the guess.

It'll happen eventually but I think it'll have to be my project. Maybe this summer if I get my internship back!

Anyone remember if those were double-humped heads (2.02 intake valves)? I don't think they were. The reason I ask...if they weren't you could get a set of replacement heads at a junkyard (make sure they have the mounting holes drilled and tapped where needed), have them redone when funds are available, then they would be ready and waiting for installation.

no idea. Good idea to get it done faster, but not like hunter can't take his time anyway.
