Default Transmission and cooling fans

Hey guys,

Currently my 2013 Mustang GT has about 11,000 miles on it. My transmission has always been notchy, especially when cold. But, I have noticed that the transmission seems to whine in second gear and get louder with an increase in rpm. Secondly, when my cooling fans kick on I can hear a loud ping right before they start up.

Has anyone else had either of the two problems? I can be very touchy when it comes to how my car runs and I just don't want to overreact to something that may be inherent in mustangs...

I think the transmission is hit and miss. Mine is not too bad, noticeable gear whine though. I switched to amsoil fluid and mgw shifter and it got better, especially the shifter feel. If you want notchy come drive my jeep! You can try going to the dealer to see if they'll sevice it or replace it, but it's unlikely. If one refuses, try a different dealer.

The ping you hearing I'm not sure about. I can hear relays switching when my fan/a/c compressor cut on. WE'd probably have to hear that in person to tell anything.

I couldn't hear the whine on the way home or the ping from the fan. I'm still going to take it in to the dealer to check the fans anyways. I did some research on the tranny for the 2013 model GT's and a whine is a typical noise to hear so I'm not as worried as I was before.

Update--

Turns out that the metallic noise is from the A/C compressor clutch and they stated that the winding noise is 'normal'. They checked the wear on the clutch and told me that it is within 'spec' but to, "keep an eye on it." Which to me is a metaphor that they wont work on it till it actually breaks. Needless to say I'll be getting a second opinion from a different dealership in the Charlotte area.
