do they still allow large truck on that route? if so be cautions they used to wreck other people on the corners all the time.

Excellent, good to see some responses. I was 100% for the TOD, but the aspect of a new location is very enticing! Any meet up points planned for the non charlotte crowd?

Iirc the finally banned them from the dragon, not sure about this route though. Some of us areally quite familiar with the hazards though. As a large group we've managed to avoid it thus far, only issues we've had was old obstinant people who insist on pissing others off by not pulling over. Thanks for the reminder though.

It would be easier for Wil (and others coming from the east) to meet us in Boone, it would save him quite a bit of time. Take 421 out of Winston Salem to Boone. We can find a meet point. It would take 45 minutes off the trip.

Depends on how close you are or how much you want to drive. For most of us it's an overnight trip. You could get back to charlotte in 3 hours if you wanted to.
