Order a 2016 Shelby GT350R with no markup?
My 2012 is in the shop (again) with an engine issue. The dealer is saying it needs to be replaced. The car hasn't been right since the day I bought it, but that's a different story.
Not wanting to swear off all mustangs (this was my first) I really, really want to get into a Shelby GT350R. I called a local dealership and they said that they had a 20k markup on them. They said it's the same markup they put on the 50th LE version. I've called a few dealerships and gotten everything from "They're only being made for 2015 and that's it" (clueless much?) to "our dealership isn't getting any in."
Does anyone know of a dealership that actually knows what they're talking about and isn't going to mark them up? If not, a vette is looking mighty tempting...but I'd rather stay with Ford. Thanks so much, guys. I'm really looking for a dealership I can build a relationship with and buy all my future Ford cars from.

Sucks you are having so much trouble with your 12. Try calling Capitial Ford of Raleigh. They may be getting some. I'm not sure if Lafayette Ford here in Fayetteville is getting any.
Have you thought about getting into a 11-14 Shelby? Just a though unless you are set on the GT350 or the GT350R.
Speaking of vettes....I would still like to get my hands on a Jet Stream Blue Zo6.

Why bother with the R? You gonna track it? You'd end up adding half the stuff back they take out of the gt350 unless you really don't want a/c when it's 100 degrees outside. Just a thought.

I'm with Clint and JJ. Thats the reason we went with the 350 with tech package. Good package to track on open track days but comfortable to go to shows and just drive around. The R is a completely different monster, that car is for the track and I personally wouldn't drive the car that much on the street with CF wheels.

I'd personally steer clear of an R unless you are tracking it hardcore or (uggh) storing it in a garage for 50 years.

Thanks for the input, guys. Yeah I totally understand what you're saying. The biggest thing that I'd miss is the back seat, but couldn't that be added back in later?
The mentality that I had (although now I'm def questioning it after the input) is that I would add the 7k track pack onto the 350 which would put it within striking range of the price of the R, so why not just get the R. Plus the spoiler on the R is a "must" for me. Makes the car. Idk though. 350 with Track or 350r with tech...hmm. Guess it's not even an option if I can't find a dealer willing to sell them at sticker (have never even paid sticker before, but I understand this car is a little different for sure.)
Thanks guys for the input!

The R with Tech package is going to be way more expensive than the base with track package. The tech package is 7k, I think the track package was only 4k. The tech package on the R is a few grand as well on top of the R premium price.

Whoops
Misspoke. After reading what you guys said and looking again at the leaked order sheet, I've decided to go with the 350 (not R) with the "Tech" package as it comes with what looks like the majority of the goodies from the "Track" package (no strut bar? couple other small things?) plus some other goodies. Thank you guys for the input! Man I can't wait to get this car ordered and receive it! Any idea on when they might start rolling off the line and getting to customers?
