Resizing an image for a sig.

I am trying to make a sig. and I'm also trying to rezise it. I believe the size for a sig. is 500 x 250px, correct me if I'm wrong. When I go to resize and put in 500 it comes up with an automatic number for heigth and vice versa. That wouldn't be bad except that it's not the number I want. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance, Q

If you are using photofiltre you can go to the Image menu and select image size. Then resize it. If you want to resize the picture itself I use a program called IrfanView.

Try resizing the canvas size not the image size.

if you try to resize the canvas, make sure it's done before you add your pictures, though; otherwise you run the risk of cropping out part of the image you want to keep.

also, since width and height are automatically changing, check to see if there is a 'constrain proportions' option available. usually, if that's selected, when you change one size, it will automatically change the other to keep the image looking 'right'. and yes, 500wide by 250tall is preferred 'max' sig size :)
