I know what you mean. I think once they feel the true power, many will be scared to try it for themselves.

I hear you, if i had a GT40 MK1 i would put like a retna scan on that thing. I only let my bro and best friend drive mine, only because we all fix it together, and i cant turn my brother down because it was our dads. But id rather see them drive it than a girlfriend, or any other chick. It's just to much horsepower. not to mention none of them are used to the brakes. It takes some getting used to to be comfotrable seeing other people drive it.

I would let my wife drive it if she wanted to. She doesn't. Right after I bought it I had her take a turn behind the wheel in a big parking lot. The car is original and the manual drum brakes and play in the steering did not agree with her.
We both work and our pay goes into a joint account so I figure even though the car is registered to me it is really just as much hers as mine.
Personally, I would let anyone I know drive it if I were confident in their promise to be careful, and if they were experienced in the braking and steering systems.
But, being 57 years old, most - if not all - of my friends are no longer into "getting on it" or "seeing what she's got." They would just want to drive it around the block.

Same here with my friends, they all have a comparable cars to mine. 67 Camaro 675HP, 70 Road runner 393 4sp (stock for now), 62 Fairlane 1500HP, and a 68 Charger 650 HP.
Sorry for the repost boys, for those that have heard me before...

Anyone can drive my car.
I was having dinner in a Pizza restaurant one night when my friend's son who was a delivery driver there complained that his car failed and wanted a ride home. Instead, I had him drive me home and lent him the car to do deliveries. He was 17.
I give it up to valets all the time, and it usually gets parked up front anyway because of what it is.
I have casual driver insurance with AAA. If someone borrows my car, it's insured.
Debbie is a driver. I don't wash it during the rainy season (Jan-March) because it rains every few days anyway. I don't baby the car because it's too stressful. It's never been garaged: it's been outside on the street since 1969. I park it anywhere, even in "compact" spots in parking lots if that's all there is.
Anyone can drive it. They just have to put gas in. To me, in terms of everyday practical use, it's just a car.
