I think the tire would be about 3/4 of inch for sidewall. The "hot wheel" look.

I think 18 is the biggest I have heard with standard-ish suspension. That was in the rear.

I think you can fit a 315 35 17 on the rear. Has any one done that size?

Any tire taller than 24" will hit the wheel well on bumps at higher speeds, or bumps at even lower speeds with cargo/passengers. The launch will be slower and burn more gas with city driving (slightly better mpg on the freeway) as well. If you like a contemporary wheel, stay with 17"-18" tops, with a 50-55 series tire. You can get the look and avoid probs. Also, bigger wheel will skew your speedo lower.

Also, make sure the backspacing will accomodate brakes and not push wheel outside the wheel opening.

Remember you gotta re gear your rear end to match those wheels and if a 20s all way around the stock brakes gotta go. http://www.mustangsteve.com/cobrabrakes.html the cobra brakes are the smallest id run with that much rotating mass.
