Default rack & pinion steering

I own a 67 modified restored fastback and am considering changing to rack & pinion steering. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has changed over to one these systems and the pros and cons of the various companies, ie unisteer, flaming river, total control and others.Thank

I have a M2 manual rack on the 67. Drives very well. I have installed a power rack (flaming river) on the 65 but I hav'nt started the engine or driven the car yet.

I would stay away from the floating style, like the Tempo cars etc...
Total Control is like that.

A friend with a 65 had that rack and it never could stay dry.
He had leak problems all the time and had to use a certain kind of fluid.
The car has now a Flaming River rack and it's trouble free so far...

Thanks for the information. I would like to hear from more of anyone who has done a rack & pinion conversion on any old mustang. I would like to know what you liked and didn't on the system you used. Thanks

I have the manual TCP rack on my 66. The quality is excellent and the install was easy, but I haven't driven it, yet.

My son put a Flaming River Manual R&P in his 66,,, I like the kit, drives great, EASY install, complete kit.

There ars some folks who don't like the Flaming River stuff, but I do like the setup he put in his car. First rate IMO...

I like the manual setup, put a similar manual rack in my 39, IMO it steers easy enough for a girl to drive..
