Default Sagging *** on a 67

I looked high and low on this site and am starting a new thread as a last resort and ready for the public flogging if it has been addressed elsewhere. After said flogging I would appreciate any direction on how to pick up the rear of my 67 coupe. I have tried new springs and even crappy air shocks just to keep it from looking like a spanked dog. I also tried to post pictures of it and might as well have come up with a cure for bad taste.

I have three words for you,,,

"Grab a Track"

http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/key...ords=grabatrak

We used the 5 leaf version on my son's 66 with great results IMO.

I have never heard anything bad about these springs... and THEY WILL stiffen up your car.

DITCH the air shocks right now,,, they will make holes in your floor...

We used lift shackles to raise the back of the 66 about 2", this really ain't a popular thing to do on this forum, but we don't really give a ****..

And Welcome to the forum!!

I am not a fan of "the going uphill" look either

The GATs will firm things up...

I did the same thing with shackels that are about 2 inches longer. I have new HD or GT 4 leaf rear springs. This raised the rear of the car and inch or so. I know most people think that is the old way of doing things, but I don't care either. My car rides and handles well so its ok with me. My car is old school anyway.

My car has 1 inch lowering springs on the front and has a very slight rake to it, but the rear tires are slightly larger as well. I think a classic Mustang needs to sit level or have the nose lower than the rear. The low rear just looks like worn out suspension or of trunk full of junk. LOL...

I agree throw the air shocks away.

Grab A Track is a good company to buy suspension parts from.

The cheap way is get a load leveler aka add a leaf from any auto parts store it will give you 1 inch lift.

Yeah, I'm stumped too. My sagging problem was solved when I installed new leafs.

Can you verify you installed the correct leafs/shackles? Were they standard (and not reverse eye/lowering)? As a safety check, also verify the integrity of the frame rails.

Good luck.

I replaced the leaf springs on my '67 coupe. The car still squatted. So I took the springs to a spring company and had them re-bent. I think I had them bent another 2 or 2 1/2 inches. That really jacked the car up. After a few months, they settled and the stance was where I wanted it. (I also put 1" lower springs on the front).

Here are before and after pictures. The before picture had 14" rims, the after picture had 15" rims.
