Is My Car Running Rich?

I have a '64 289 2V and when I drive, I notice that people stay waaaaaaay back from the car. I hopped out at a stop sign and asked the guy behind me if my wheels are wobbly or what. He said the car smells like gas. It is definitely not leaking.

The other symptom: After driving the car and letting it sit for a few hours, when I start it, it bogs down and won't easily stay idling until I warm it up and drive it for about a mile.

I'm a novice. Should I try to adjust the carb, or will I just screw it up?

Thanks BB

Sounds like you are running rich. Not burning all the fuel so you get the smell. Also sounds like you are heat soaking, but that may be related to running rich.
