So then getting the Car down to 3000lbs or in some cases for those who think the car is lighter 2500lbs and putting say an estimated 500hp with 550 to 600tq from the engine, would that to you guys seem like it's worth it?... being as most of you drive your car.

Do they make light weight carpets? :P So your street cars don't look bares inside?

as for the light weight carpet, you can always remove the sound matt.

ive actually seen some VERY custom street rods where they put leather on the floor instead of carpet. you could always do that and then a floor mat over it

i was reading up on this and people've said your much better off upgrading engine components for more power then losing weight to add power...
well money wise.

and also you have to think of weight distribution. the ratio and what not, and also in case of an accident yada yada yada yada.

3900lbs sounds way too high most 68 unless a big block convertible are under 3000lbs.Hit a truck stop and see for yourself.

Default 1965 mustang inline 6

this is my list

weight cut<
no AC -11.6LB
alum water pump -1LB
alum radiator -2LB
new headers instead of the cast iron stock lol
i’ll run shorter exhaust so no muffler just to pipes going out the side i went with duel i’m thinking
-8~10lb with this ^
cousin said grill could go think about -2lb
and pony at the front -1lb

all together like -26 lb (what i can do^

so after all this get a lithium battery
or a race battery and move to the back..

in my dreams
hood
alum drive shaft
head
alum wheels
alum valve cover
light weight air cover
i think coils are lighter then leaf springs but like 2000+$
i heard alum head bolts..
hard enough looking for headbolts for these things

plan to move 35Lb battery to rear
not much else

car is about 2450lb~ inline 6
gonna go on a scale one day
