X2 on both counts. Add that my apron needs to be replaced again. Could be time to call the State Patrol and see what they say.

pbarranger67.. If the apron has been replaced then your SOL. There are no other VIN locations on the car other then the 2 fender aprons and door plate for a 67 mustang. At this point the only VIN you have is the door plate. Is the drivers door original, is the plate original, is the plate a new door plate with a false VIN on it by a prior owner?

Your at the point where you either go to the DMV and just use the door plate VIN and hope everything is OK or going the 'safe' route by contacting the state police.

Hmm.. do you have a title for the car and does it match the door plate VIN?
