1965 “ Black Fangs “ Mustang

Finally, it’s here …..
It all started at the end of 2005…..the obsession on Mustang begun…..
From that moment on…I began to open up my head / heart with this American Pony…..What / Where / How / How Much…….and never asked WHY !.....
Then came one fine day…..an ad. appeared … and I followed…have a look…dealt…closed…droved home…and began the resurrections….....
The first on-going evidence was this pic, dated Jan 11, 2006…..
‘Til the re-introduction day on this recently past, December 12, 2009 …..
…… altogether a 4-year time !

4 Years…..what has been done ?
• Painted and repainted ; it was first in silver…then Super Black
• Engine modifications, twice ; the 1st didn’t survive due to misalignment
• Brakes job, twice ; first replaced the old drums with disc…then redo the whole thing
• Exhaust system, also twice ; the long tubes style didn’t perfectly fit to the tight engine room, the second try with shorty worked much better
• Many changes were made to the front lights ; the original sealed beams were not to be, then came the tri-bar type that didn’t fit the space. I tried the “ Cobra Eyes “ without luck. The current should be the final as I made the design and all…..of course, I love ‘em !......
• There were may be 5 steering wheels ; the original pony was so much torn apart, then I ordered Grant for Mustang but some how it didn’t catch on. Next I found a 4-spoke that I thought would be it…but it wasn’t. Then I bite the bullet and ordered the beauty and high cost COBRA made by Motolita…..then I rest…thinking that was it…but no! This final steering wheel came to me in a vision of one excellent modified Mustang, Obsidian,….and that’s it !
• The seats ; this was a one time / one decision ; I sat myself straight and went with Recaro, a retro type, that I have ‘em covered with real leather, black with red stiches… and , for fun, embroidered with COBRA.
• Wheels were another on-going acquisitions & dumps ; I started with American Outlaw II but I was talked out of ‘em for the reason that they would make my rides look pick-up like. The next set of wheels was of Outlaw I type which had no holes…and I thought I would settle down even ordered for set of new wide tires. No, that was not. Finally I saw Foose’s Nitrous but ordered a look-a-like set instead. Hey, I’m happy !
• The steering system changed from box type to rack & pinion…I think everyone should do this !
• I did not wish to use the original gauges, then ordered a set of black face AutoMeter…but sold to a guy…then get myself a new gauges base and new set of black face – chrome rim gauges. I like ‘em !
• The side mirrors are of custom type as I found neither the original round nor Talbot/Bullet types were exciting enough !…..
• There are a lot of “ DIY - Custom – Specially Made “ types of parts on this project car ; Overflow tank, Export & Monte Carlo Bars, Special milled bolts, gear shift bezel . etc.
• Other than that…what I did was to “ Wait “
We started our “ MuscleCarThailand.com “ on October 7, 2008…at that time my “ Black Fangs “ project was still in the dark…..but I had no fear ! .....
…nor wanted to give up !

…..it was also a day my project “ Black Fangs “ was re-introduced to the muscle cars community.
