Default What is this stuff?

I am new to restoration and am working my way around my 1968 Mustang Coupe I bought on eBay. As I am going through it, I am finding this "stuff" between panels and joints. I took a sample to Autozone and they told me it was some sort of silicon, but I don't think so. I have found it between the wheel well and the truck bottom and on the cowling at the top of the firewall. It also appears to be on a lot of the joints. I have two questions. 1. Is this stuff original? and 2. If it is, what is it and where can I get some?

From the description I was thinking seam sealer as well. Pics would help a lot.

you need to have a few more posts before you can post pics. keeps the **** visitors out.

your local auto body/paint store (we have a Napa here in Waco) sells it by the quart.

It could even be silicone caulk some people are crazy enough to use it on a car.
