Default SN71 project

Well, it's been just about 2 years to the day that I've had the time to work on my '71 coupe. I had a lot of stuff going on which stopped me from having the time, new house, kids, etc... Anyway, this winter I've decided to get back into the game and do some more work to it. So far, when last I worked on it, I had the suspension just about all mocked up. It's got an SN95 strut towers, front K-member, and custom made brackets welded to the rear to use a 99-04 Cobra IRS. I have everything I need to finish this car except a drivetrain, and time. I have plans to put in a DOHC Cobra motor (preferably an '03-'04 SC) with at least a five speed, if not a 6, depends on what I find when I'm ready for it. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to update this thread, but as I get stuff done, I'll do my best. The next step is to get the car back on my rotisserie and get all the fab work cleaned up in the engine compartment. Stay tuned...
Here are some pics of the driver side strut tower install and the firewall mods to accommodate the stearing/braking system for the SN95:

I am thinking that those welds (especially in the bottom of the bend!) are going to be fun to grind....

Lookin good!

I'm cleaning out the garage this week, so I should be back to work on it in the next week or two. And no, I'm not looking forward to grinding all the welds in the engine bay! I welded up all the holes in the aprons and firewall too. It's gonna suck getting in some of the tight spots, but it'll be worth it in the end.

A upper a arm will always out handle a strut on spindle design.Every type of racing where handling matters uses a upper a arm.Only racing they love strut on spindle is drag racing it takes less room and don't have to turn. There is 2 companies that make a kit to turn the fox body up in to a upper a arm.

Ok, I haven't been able to find the time to work on the car yet but I did clean out the garage and took some more pics of the car as it sits right now. I also came across some pics of the IRS mocked up for the first time and the new trunk floor I put in about 2 years ago or so when I last worked on it, which was luckily the only major rust on the whole car. After the holidays I'm planning on jumping back into it and getting some stuff done.

More info on the IRS please. What is it out of, how hard was it to get it in there? What mods were needed to the floor and frame rails?

You really have me thinking on my 71... not a mod motor, but the IRS has me very interested...
