Default Pony Carburetors

I was going to have the carb on my '67 289 rebuilt, but I just found out the carb that is on it now is not the correct carb for this engine. It's an Autolite that came from a '71 automatic with a 302. I'd like to put the correct Autolite carb on my car to keep it as close to original as possible. I can get one from Pony Carburetors in N. Mexico but it's going to cost me close to $500 because I don't have a core.
Anyone have any experience with Pony Carburetors http://www.ponycarburetors.com/? I know you can put whatever you want on your website, but sounds like they really know what they're doing and do a good job. Can anyone give me any other options where I might be able to find the correct Autolite for a my vehicle?

I've bought parts from them and they were very good to work with. Mustang Monthly has mentioned them several times over the past few years and always in a positive light.

Yes I want to get a 2100. I'm hearing that they're easy to work on. It's an automatic choke. Now I just have to find one to rebuild. As nice as the carbs sound from Pony Carburetor, it's going to hurt a little shelling out close to $500 for a rebuilt.

500$ for a rebuilt 2100 is ridiculous, you could buy a Holley or edelbrock for that much, i wouldn't pay more then a couple hundred for a 2100.

Those carbs are just too easy to rebuild to pay that kind of $$$ to have it done.

Find yourself a core, maybe Craig's list or ebay, get a gallon of carb cleaner ($20 at NAPA), a carb kit, and just do it for way less than 1/2 the cost.

I am aware that Pony does some "extra stuff" to their rebuilds, but the 2100 is good enough that it docent need anything extra.

for a 289 _do_ make sure you get a 300cfm autolite 2100. the carb should have a cast number on the side that says 1.14!

here's an example with 1.01 so you know what to look for

no idea if they're any good. find one and rebuild yourself. knowing the inside of the carb will help in future

Thanks for all the advice guys. I found a 300 cfm 2100 for my year and engine. I just have to rebuild it. One step closer to getting the car running smoothly again.

Pony Carbs is great for anyone that doesnt know what they are doing. I guess I may have ask too many questions regarding process and quality..... they didn't seem to like me much. I was polite and professional but I do want to know what I'm getting.
For the record... I've never seen a Hot Rod magazine do an article with a "negative" profile..... I found an execellent shop that answers questions minor or major with a smile and no over charge. http://www.allamericancarburetor.com/
