Angry main seal/ main bearing caps

hi, i am doing rear main seal 66 289 and i notice that on the main crank caps they have numbers and arrows on each one. so, #2 cap arrow is pointing opposite direction than the others. i assume that all arrows should point same way, and cap # in sequence, but which way? arrows point to front of engine, or to back? also, rear main seal cap (#5?) just has writing, which way does writing face? this motor was rebuilt, but not by me, so i guess 10,000 miles on it. some say lossen all caps to replace 2 piece seal, some say dont have to, i could use your opions on proper way/ tricks to do it, and the best seal to buy. there is a rubber one in now. about #2 cap? should i leave it be, or turn it around so arrow is like rest? this motor runs, and the less parts i lossen/ remove, the better chance i have of kepping it that way. and last, it has a broken rocker arm 62- early 66 style, can i replace this if no other damage apears to be evident? or do i need to check for more problems? thanks! chris

thanks for the info so far, i am sure everyone is busy on their own projects. did i post this question in the wrong section? i know its a long one, maybe you could point me to other answers. i do have the book "rebuild the small block ford workbench how-to" by george reid. some ok info in it. any one want to recomend books for my 66 mustang 289 4-speed toploader, #6 rearend 280:1? i also have my original chilton's auto repair manual 1973 [ american cars from 1966-1973] that my dad bought in 73 used on the family cars untill i borrowed since 76 for my junk. we used to call it the bible, but then mustangs were $400 and parts were easy. now i just need to work on it, didnt have the net to help. thanks chris

You probably would have gotten a quicker answer if you had posted in just the "Classic Mustang" section, but its not in the wrong section.
