"Investment" has no reasonable meaning for classic cars except for extremely rare cars and "value" has nothing to do with the money someone would pay you to start again, except for your insurance policy. You aren't selling it, are you? "Cost" on the other hand, only refers to what you spent to complete the goal. How much do you spend on other things to be 'entertained'? Pick you entertainment and just pay the price of admission. Yeah, it's 'worth it' all right.

LOL that IS the best way to fix a Powerstroke!

I had considered swapping in a V-10, but after a few tries, I think I found the formula to reliability for these POS'es.

With the economy like it is, collector car prices have taken a dive. If the economy ever recovers, both the "good" cars and the "common" cars will recover somewhat, maybe a lot.

I went to a car show last summer and a guy had a '56 T-bird for sale - was asking $38K for it. This thing was pristine. He asked if I had a classic and I told him about my 68 Stang. Told him it wasn't restored or fancy - just a well kept original. His response to me was that I was better off than he was - his T-bird gets trailered everywhere and he's so afraid of damaging it he won't drive it or leave it parked anywhere. He said I could enjoy my ride much more than he could enjoy his and that's why he wanted to sell it. Gave me something to think about. If you can't enjoy the car, why have it?

I'm somewhere between $25-30,000 on a '66 GT Coupe with a factory 4-speed. Original engine (with 1 original head and 1 302 head) is put up in the building. I know that I'm in the hole on this one...but I didn't build it to sell, I built it to drive.

There is a lot to be said about that...

My 55 Lincoln looks ok, it has a poorly installed left quarter, and a paint job that looks good from 15 feet..

I drive it everywhere and park it anywhere.... (if the windshield wasn't all but impossible to find, I would be all bet care free!

It is fun to drive and I get a lot of attention...

The best way to make a $20k car is to put $40k in to it.

I'm probably a bit ahead on the fastback. Mainly because we've (my brother, then I) owned it for so long many years.

I have between $15-$20k invested in my Mustang, but would be lucky to get $10k out of it. Right now it is a 1/2 completed project. I could probably sell it for $15-$20k if I finished it, but then I'd have at least another $5k into it. Either way it's a loss of $5-10k.

I am not doing my mustang to sell. I am looking to learn from the experience and build something unique. I also like the older cars over the newer ones anyways.
