Default what degree timing set on 68 302 engine

Ok guys manual says 6 BTC my car seems to run better at 10 to 12. Is that ok or or do I have to set at 6. Also what RPM should I be running at idle. I have a mild cam and 625 rpms doesn't seem right

If you car behaves at 10-12° and doesn't ping then I would say leave it. You don't have the stock cam in there anymore.
Do you have an automatic or manual? Bump the idle up a bit. I run mine around 750-800 with a manual. Just my .02.

also check your overall timing bec you dont want that going much higher then 36*. I have seen some engines though that wanted a lot more overall...like 45, but usually the engine will be pinging by then
