Yea, you should not hear a popping noise. I would make sure everything is in place and tight.

i have the same issure with my 2000 gt after i installed a upr k-member kit. two problems i have is after i lower my car from being jacked up the coil over spring doesn't like to set in place and makes a ton of horiable popping noises until i jack back up and re-set. another is my sway bar in the front doesn't allow me to tighten the bold from the control arm and makes a clear solid pop when i go over bumps. i plan on fixing that with a bump steer kit

Is the sound coming from the front end of your car? When does it make these sounds is it only over bumps or turning left or right?
