Default Difference in oil senders 65 to 66?

Other than the stud vs spade connection to the wiring harness, is there any difference in the internal workings of the two different types of senders. I believe the stud was intended for the gauges and the spade was intended for the oil lights.

Default Clarifying the question

Could I successfully use a 66 sending unit on a 65 with an oil light? The new engine wiring harness came in a package stamped 65 with lamps but the connection is for a stud sending unit. Suggestions?

The 65 is a switch and the 66 is a variable resistor which will make the light glow at different levels and drive you nuts.

That's the answer I was looking for. I'm going to have to replace the oil sender end of the new harness with a spade connector. Thanks for replying.

If you really want to know your oil pressure, get a mechanical gage.
