Need a 65 expert
Ok so I need some knowledge here regarding some 65 stuff. Now I am a mustang expert myself and have talked to many if my mustang pals and they all say something different. I sold my 67 coupe last week and picking up a 65 fastback this weekend. Very excited! It has always been my favorite body style. I will post pics when it's home! So anyways some 1965 mustangs have a 66 gauge cluster in them. Now the question is... Are they "late" 65's or only pony int? And or GT's with pony int. or did ford just do some goofy things in 65. ( I know they sure did in 67) it's driving me nuts because some 65's had 66 door tags in them as well. And the ones that do have 66 clusters in them.. This is bugging me. Just like some early 65's came with generators with 289's (not 260's) and some didn't. So I guess the big question is what determines if it had a 66 cluster? Are they late 65's? Pony int? GT? Or combos of the three? I guess ford was trying to figure out what the heck they were gonna do early on. Cause they sure didn't when they changed the body style over to 67.. 4 different gas a fuel lines depending in which month it was built. Ugh. Let me know what you guys think!

Ok that's what I figured. And they didn't introduce the pony interior until late 65 models? I know that was the case with the GT's .. After march 15th 65 anyways. Now what determines the door tag...
