1972 Grande blows turn signals blow Fuse
I have been building a 72 Grande for my daughter, I put a 1991 Lincoln Mark VII and the matching AOD tranny. What causes the turn signal to blow when I turn the ignition on? I have been working on this problem for going on 2 weeks. So far I completely rewired the turn signals in both front and rear, having pulled out the engine bay wiring harness down to the fire wall and pulled the dash harness to include the brake switch and dropped the fuse panel to inspect but but don't know how to pull the individual wires out of the fuse block. have found a number of chaffed wires replaced wiring. I replaced both flashers, put a new steering column harness in and a new ignition switch. That being said why do my tail lights come on when I turn the key on without turning lights on? I was going to buy a 21st century 14 fuse wiring harness from Kwik wire but really need to find the problem please help.

fuses popping like that can sometimes be exposed wire grounding itself. also, it sounds like the wiring from the column to the rest of the harness is not correct. get some wiring schematics and make sure all your lights are wired up as they should be. trace them all, the whole length of the wire. bypass the brake light switch if its an old one to make sure its working. check the wiring coming out of the headlight switch as well, make sure all those wires are going where they should. if that cars been through many other hands you never know the kind of work they did. a full rewire wouldnt be a bad idea but if you can fix what you have it ll be much cheaper and faster
on a side note, are you running efi ?
