Default LED instrument gauges problem 1967 fastback

Hi guys,

I have just replaced the incandescent bulbs with led bulbs in my instrument gauge cluster and now the car won't start. my battery is fine.

does anyone know why the led lights are causing my car not to start?

thanks for any help offered.

andrew

That's weird. The only led issue I've heard of is hyper flashing of turn signals, which requires resistors to be added.
Good luck.

I can't imagine why led's would cause your no-start problem. I'd be more inclined to believe that something didn't get hooked back up correctly when you pulled the cluster out.

thanks guys.

I know it's weird. i plugged the 3 plugs behind the cluster back in and the leds lit up but the car would not start. i removed the bulbs and the car starts. very strange.

could the leds be drawing so much current that the car has not got enough power to turn the starter motor? even though leds are supposed to use less energy.

Damn. That is a noodler.

Are you putting the incandescent bulbs back in to start it up or leaving them out altogether?

LEDs should be drawing less current IIRC. They might be altering the voltage seen down the line? Electricity is not my strong point...

If you replace the leds back with the incandescent bulbs do you get the same results?

Trying to eat the elephant one bite at a time here. If you put the incandescent bulbs back in and have the same results then the problem isn't with the LED's.

Now take the bulbs out altogether and see what happens.
