RE: toooo small?
depends, what RPM do you wwant the most power? do you have 2V or 4V heads? is it a daily driver? is it race only? Personally, I think that it is, hell, Ford put 600cfm's on 83-85 Mustangs

Check the part number... At least on mine, it's stamped on the edge of the base on the front, bottom, left hand corner. Then you can go out to the Edelbrock website or even do a search on eBay for "Edelbrock Carb" or something like that and when you find the carb with the part number, it normally lists the CFM for it.
...I just did this the other day for mine. Found a part number of 1405, which is the 600CFM Performer carb.

RE: toooo small?
The 1405 is a 600 cfm with a manual choke and is tuned for better performance.
The 1406 is also a 600 cfm, but with an electric choke and is tuned for better fuel efficiency (smaller primary jet and rod, but same secondary set-up).
If you have a 1405 with an electric choke, then someone put the electric choke conversion kit on it, like I am doing to mine.
Best of luck!
