Crager 15's or 16's on 7o fastback

Already decided to go with crager ss on my 70 fastback. Like the old school look. Torn between 15 or 16s. Pland to go with 225/50s up front and 245/50s in back. The 15s woyuld be $200 cheaper overall. Any suggetions or picks would be appreciated. thanks

Because they're so old school, I would go with 15's

I think your right especially since I want to go with raised white letters. Here is what I found on mustang monthly:

"we begin with a 15x7-inch Vintage 50 with a 37/8-inch backspacing. Essentially a Shelby 10-spoke copy, it looks great with the 225/60R15 tire (about the best size for this wheel). However, a 235/60R15 tire would also fit well. You could also stagger tire sizes by running a 225/60 or 235/60 up front and fit a 245/60 on the back. Although the 245/60 might be a little big for a wheel that's only 7 inches wide, it will fit and would look good."

I'm thinking 15x7 upfront with 235/60R15 tire and 15x8 in back with 245/60.

Ya after reading the MM quote I would definitely run a slightly wider rim on the back if you want to go with a 245. You won't get that ugly sidewall buldge that happens when you try to mount a tire on a rim thats too skinny. An 8" rim will accept a 245/60 just right. What kind of tires are you thinking (because I'm sure you know some tires will fit wider/thinner than the same size in another brand)?

Sticking with old school scheme - probably Goodrich Radial T/As

That will be a nice setup...from what I remember back when I was doing wheel and tire research, BF's were one of the manufacturers that tended to be one of the bigger tread sizes, but I think as long as you run an 8" rim in the back you should be fine.

Goodrich tires are fine, but after a lot of research, I found that Goodyear tires are by far the better of the two. I bought the raised white letter Goodyear Eagle GTII's

I like 16's, they let you run a slightly larger brake, plus they don't look out of place. Those are 16's on my '71 @ CarDomain. Oh, and those are 245-50 tires, the same height as factory.

15's & Goodrich tires, which are superior to Goodyear.
