I, too, go through Hagerty. There are no restrictions but it can't be a daily driver. They explained you can use it to run to the store, cruise on a nice day but if you go over 3,000 miles they will take a closer look at what you use the car for. I pay about $200 for $28k in coverage. I'm about to add another car to my policy since I'm happy with them.

I put about 4k miles on my real "daily driver" with a value of about $15k (brand new last year) and I pay $1100 a year on it.

Follow up......

I just got off the phone with a local State Farm Auto Insurance rep.

They gave me a quote for no restrictions, $250 ded., full coverage @

$430.00-- 6 month policy...looks like I found my insurance!!

No stated value, however, should the car be totaled (heavens forbid), cash reimbursement is determined as above...receipts, recent sales, or combination thereof.

Good luck all...I hope this info will save others hours of research...pass it on!

I really don't know why, but many moons ago, I decided to not have full coverage on any of my vehicles that I didn't owe any money on. I figure I have saved about a cazillion dollars over the past 45 or so years with that philosophy. Right now, my 65 costs me about 150 bucks for 6 months of basic state required insurance with no driving restrictions attached. Now, if I had a 428 CJ KR or some exotic, I guess I would have a different philosophy.

I pay $138.00 a year with State Farm Insurance with $100collision and $0 comp on my 1970 Mach 1 with 2000mile limit per year and no other restrictions. I highly encourage everyone to check out State Farms for all your insurance needs ( i am not saying this because they are my employer either). You didnt hear this from me but they have implemented a new rating system recently that has very competative rates. I switched recently and my Stang insurance is free just in the savings on my truck and homeowners.

I haven't insured my 68 yet, just bought it, and it needs brakes before I hit the road, but my previous classic was insured through State Farm. I had a 70 340 Duster that my dad bought new, I only had liability and comprehensive with no stated value or restrictions. Last summer two kids set the dumpster on fire that was under my carport at my apartment. After the car was completely burned, State Farm realy stepped up. I thought I was out everything, but they used similar cars for sale to judge value. There wasn't much to look at, but they never asked for pictures or receipts. They gave me way more than I thought possible. I'll be sticking with them.

I have State Farm on my 69 Mach 1 CJ and it is insured for $69,000 with no mileage restrictions for only $100 every 6 months. I checked out Hagerty but what you have to look at is the accident coverage. At hagerty you only have $15,000 per person, $30,000 per accident medical coverage and only $7500 per accident property damage. My State Farm covers $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident medical and $100,000 property damage. The Hagerty $7500 property damage per accident is barely enough to pay for a Pinto, so once you have a accident you will have to sell your classic to pay for the Cadillac you just hit.

I am an insurance agent. My company brokers with Hagerty's Classic cars. Depending on your location, driving record, and written agreed value of car, you should be able to get coverage with Hagerty's for a really good deal. Hagerty's also offers $0 deductibles for Comp. and Coll. Not many other company's offer that. They are also pretty much no hassel when it comes to the appraisal. Just submitt photos. The stated agreed value is in writing, an absolute must. If it ain't in writing, it ain't so. I've checked around and Hagerty's is one of the best comapny's around. It's where I have my '68 GT fastback insured. The only downside is that it can't be a daily driver and you can't have young drivers in the household. Hagerty's primarily insures your higher end classic cars. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.
