I just posted 2 days ago about mine, The walkthorughs were very involved and required removing the windshield...So... i cut a section out of the top section above the circle opening and below the back part of the fender( with it removed) and had access to reweld in a new section. Worked fairily well, ill put pictures up tomarrow! -Jon

could i pour fiberglass resin in over the rust spots to stop the leak? or should i just get a cover for the cowl vent itself? I don't have the time and money to do the whole thing like it was esplained on here.

Your best bet is to either do it correctly, or leave it alone. Do not attempt to do something that will cover it up like fiberglass. You should cut it all out and install new metal.

They sell clear plastic covers for the outside part of the vent to keep wwater from coming in. If you don't wawnt to fix it that's your best bet fot he time being.

+1 grim, IMHO they cowl covers look a little hokey but it'll keep the water out until you get the real problem fixed, you might also want to check your floor panel for rust now too, the water usually flows through the fresh air vent and pools up under your carpet and then starts the cancer

That's exactly what hapened to me. The front of both my floor boards are rusted through. I am going to have to go all out on my cowls. The rust is to severe.
